XIII International Oriental Dance Festival in Estonia – Competition

 Details Styles permitted: raqs sharqi, oriental, classical bellydance, cabaret-bellydance. Folklore and fusion elements are allowed if they don’t dominate the performance. The only prop allowed is the veil. Drum solos are permitted if they do not make over 1/3 of the dance. Styles permitted: oriental dance with any props; oriental dance that uses music from another style and/or is mixed with movements from another style. Styles permitted: raqs sharqi, oriental, classical bellydance, cabaret-bellydance, oriental song, tarab. Folklore and fusion elements are allowed if they don’t dominate the performance. Registration and deadlines To register, fill in the registration form and send your music to info@orientaldance.ee. The name of the music file should definitely include your name. If more than 8 dancers register in the professional category, a video pre-round will take place. For the video round, the participant will send a video of their dance to the organisers by 9 October 2019 at the latest.
 Participation fee 15 EUR/dancer + participation in at least 1 festival workshop 7 EUR/dancer + each group member must participate in at least 1 festival workshop 25 EUR/dancer + participation in at least 1 festival workshop. (If the participant is not able to advance from the pre-round, we will refund the entry fee.)

The jury will evaluate:

– artistry, including communication with the audience, emotions;

– style, including its suitability with the theme of the competition, and the suitability of the technique, stage presence, choreography, and costume with the chosen style;

– choreography, ie dynamics of time, space and quality;

– overall appearance.

If the author of the choreography participating in the competition is a jury member, he/she will not evaluate the performance. The arithmetic mean of the points given by the other jury members shall be indicated as a replacement for this jury member’s points.
