Description Raqs sharqi, Egyptian folklore (Saidi, Iskanderani, Fellahi, Nubian, Hagallah, Bambuteya, Ghawazee), baladi, shaabi, or pop. Using accessories is allowed if they are relevant to the style chosen, but no more than one type of accessory per dance is allowed. If the dance includes the use of veil, it can not be for more than 1/3 of the dance. If the dance includes a drum solo, it must not be longer than 1/3 of the dance. Saidi, Iskanderani, Fellahi, Nubia, Hagallah, Bambuteya, Ghawazee, Dance with Mileya, Andalusian. Using accessories is allowed if they are relevant to the style chosen, but it is limited to one type of accessory per dance. Music must be from the repertoire of Oum Kalthoum, Abdel Halim Hafez, Mohammed Abdel Wahab, or Farid Al Attrache. Club remixes of the songs are not allowed. If the music originally includes a drum solo it is allowed, but no added drum solos.
 Age limit By the time of the competition the participant must be at least 13 years old. No age limit. By the time of the competition the participant must be at least 16 years old.

Registration and deadlines Fill in the application  and send your music to info@orientaldance.ee. Please make sure your music file has your name in the file name. We are accepting applications until all places are filled, or until the 5th October 2018. Fill in the application and send your music to info@orientaldance.ee. If we receive more applications than there are places, the selection of competitors will be made based on videos. You are required to film your competition piece and send it to us by 28th September 2018. The pre-selection will be made by the members of the Estonian Chamber of Oriental Dance. Results of the selection will be published by the 5th October 2018.
Participation fee 15 EUR per dancer + participation in at least one festival workshop taking place on 3rd or 4th November 2018. 7 EUR per dancer + every dancer must participate in at least one festival workshop taking place on 3rd or 4th November 2018. 25 EUR per dancer + participation in at least one festival workshop taking place on 3rd or 4th November 2018. (In case you do not pass the pre-selection, we will return the participation fee.)

The jury will look at:

– Artistry, including emotional expression and interaction with the audience.
– Style, including relevance to the theme of the chosen category. Also, how well your technique, presence, choreography, costume etc. fit the style you have chosen.
– Choreography/formation, ie. the dynamics of time, space and qualities.
– Appearance.
Should any member of the jury be the creator of a competing choreography, then the said jury member will not be judging that particular contestant. Replacing the missing points will be the arythmetic mean of the points given by rest of the jury.
